Once a week, my grandson and I go for a walk in a park nearby. This ‘Our Time’ is precious to both of us, so I was very sad to lose it due to the pandemic. I didn’t want it to become just a memory. And this inspired me to preserve it in a keepsake-this quilt.
Each block represents a month we skipped our walk (April-December). We walked the same route and sometimes spoke the same things but for me each time was special and different. I have shown this with the same leaves and flowers arranged differently in each block.
The blocks (9.5cmx9.5cm) are hand appliqued (161 pieces), handpieced and handquilted. The smallest piece is a circle of 0.5cm diameter and the largest is a flower 2.5x2.2cm.
Oh, the Emerald? It is his favourite gemstone!
