Paper pieced, Free Motion Machine Quilting, Flange Binding. This quilt design is special to me because the central theme is a kolam that my mother and I used to decorate the entrance of our home with every Christmas. We liked the geometric design and the symmetry. It is considered auspicious and welcoming to have a kolam at the entrance. It is also a good mental and physical exercise to draw a kolam. Improves posture, flexibility, and concentration. It is very meditative and peaceful. Piecing this quilt was fulfilling in a very special way.
