The day I sew my beautiful daughter in her pink wedding outfit it brought tears of joy. I wanted to recreate ‘them’ in a ‘wedding quilt’. I taught myself portrait quilting by doing some other quilts but this one had to be way above my initial skill level. Starting with digital maneuvering of their pics to using unique vintage fabrics front and back, enhancing my free motion quilting skills and now seeing them come alive in this picture using the tiniest of pieces of silk collected from the world over I could think of only the name I gave it - ‘Sapnon ki Chaadar- quilt of dreams’
Just like their Indian- American marriage this quilt has combined a variety of techniques and various fabrics mixed in with a mother’s love.
