This quilt top, based on a free block of the month pattern, was made by me in 2012, when I was very new to quilting. It taught me much that I know about quilting techniques, including needle turned applique, hand piecing and foundation paper piecing and is very close to my heart. The original quilt was in red and white but I used colours inspired by a brilliant monsoon sunset. It includes about 2600 pieces! All fabric was locally sourced in India and includes a favourite woven dupatta in yellows, oranges and red. I added a border and flanged binding to tie everything together.
It was professionally long-arm quilted.
