Artist Statement/ Description/ Method
The key to success i learnt in making this quilt is to have a good contrast. I worked with 23 blue shades of fabric. These houses are of 5 different types depending on the number of windows. it has 12 regular houses, 4 short houses, 4 wide houses, 4 corner houses,7 bridge houses n all windows are not the same size. The techniques involved in this pattern is using freezer paper, foundation piecing, appliqué, piecing, freehand drawing and painting. the first border to the centre block is strippy piecing of whites and blues, the final border is dogtooth consisting of 140 blue triangles and 136 white triangle. It took me 420 hours for a period of two months to complete this project. However straight longish strips sewn they will look crooked.
