This quilt was made after I had visited India several times. I had visited many places specializing in textile production, most using traditional methods of hand working.
To a Western eye India is a beautiful and fascinating country of extremes. To illustrate this I used a dark background fabric, quilted in a random design, to reflect the country's poorer areas. The embroidery, beads and metallics represent the wealth in other areas. I have used fabrics in bright, sunny colours like those that I saw everywhere during my visits.
