Artist Statement/ Description/ Method
Inspired by the culture of gathering produce this quilt showcases treasures of a forage.A single Hydrangea bloom,is juxtaposed by the exotic Callas and braced in place by
twisted leafless twigs, roots spilling out of a painted wooden clog. An assortment of found objects–a
pocket watch, chipped China bowl, and a bird skull complete the setting. The colors used in the quilt are
a nod to an unconventional lifestyle, the teal background with pale pink, sage green and
brown, reflect the mix of organic and man-made bounty. Entirely handmade, hand painted and hand sewn with tiny treasures spanning 30 years-15-year-old leather cords and the 30-year-old machine-embroidered lace.Speciality methods such as leather carving, painting and braiding have been used.
