The Narcondam Hornbill lives on a small island in the Andamans. It is the only place where these birds exist on this planet. I saw a wildlife programme about them, and was taken with these magnificent and yet endangered birds and was moved to create the picture in fabric. The photograph was taken by Dhritiman Mukherjee, based out of Kolkata, and he generously gave me permission to use the picture. I have deliberately kept the background quilting in the shape of leaves, so as not to distract from the main character, besides maintaining the feel of the forest.
