As an avid gardener, I chose Floral Rhapsody as my theme to depict old and new (fabrics), light and dark, shiny and matte, to bring together opposites and yet exist in harmony, calling to the butterflies. And as the butterflies dance merrily and hide among the flowers I cherish, I am reminded that these extraordinarily trying times will pass one day. Where flowers bloom, so does hope.
The quilt uses 300 squares of floral motifs made from various techniques of fabric production such as block-printing, screen printing, digital printing and resist dyeing.
Though interested in quilting most of my life, I’ve been actively quilting for the last fifteen years. At the grand age of 74, I am thrilled to send in my first entry in a competition.
