For winter i chose to show the tree with snow covered branches for which i chose a light blue fabric that depicts snow. For summer i decided to go with a dark green colours for the foliage showing how lush the trees are during summer. For spring i took a mild pink that conveys the tree is in full blossom during the spring and Finally for autumn i chose a mix of mustard and maroon that appears as if the leaves are about to wither and fall away. AMBIKA RAMESH

Country: India

Dimensions: 122 x 91 x 0.25
Artist Statement/ Description/ Method: I started this during lockdown. So, I had to use only material I had at home. A Blouse piece as a base and some left-over bits and pieces from other projects. I didn't have a plan or design when I started. I kept adding Dresden petals in a spiral for the big flower. Machine quilted the Dresden flowers to the back ground and FMQ'd a flowery design for the most part. Embroidered the second line of a favorite song: "Malarey Mounama" by Late Shri. SPB and Smt. S. Janaki, from the 1995 Tamil Movie "Karnaa". Did some hand quilting and embroidery with the Tamil letters.

LALITHA RAMU

Country: INDIA

Dimensions: 122 x 91
Artist Statement/ Description/ Method: I love gardening and have a beautiful terrace garden filled with dahlias, hibiscus in myriad colours. This year's theme "Floral Rhapsody" is very apt to fill everyone's life with all the bright colours of happiness, health and prosperity. As you all know the worst year 2020 filled everyone all around the world with gloom. So I thought of using my favourite Dresden pattern to do this wonderful quilt. In this Quilt i made dresden flowers in beautiful bright colours and did machine applique alongwith a few stems and leaves in dresden to replicate my beautiful garden in full bloom. The floor of the garden is a beautiful leafy print in greens to make it real. Flowers always brighten my spirits. I hope my quilt will bring hope and cheer up all.

The Gentle Giants
The Gentle Giants
Thanjam Ravindran

Country: India

Dimensions: 210 x 197 x 1.5
Artist Statement/ Description/ Method: I’ve adored elephants ever since I saw a herd of them cross the savanna, their massive ears flapping like propellers. The sight of these gentle creatures always lifts my spirits. Recently I saw a herd of caparisoned elephants near Amber Fort in Jaipur, waiting patiently for tourists to climb atop them, as the sun glinted off the mirror-work. It was breathtaking. That’s why I decided to make elephants the central motif of my patchwork quilt. There are forty elephant-patches on the quilt. Returning to work on them every morning over the past six months never failed to brighten my day.
Rang-geen Rekha-ganith/Colourful Geometry
Rang-geen Rekha-ganith/Colourful Geometry
Bishakha Raviraj

Country: India

Dimensions: 200.66 x 119.38
Artist Statement/ Description/ Method: A tribute to the Master Artist Sir S H Raza. His paintings represent the colours of nature with 'Colourfull Geometric pattern s'. I have used solid coloured Fabrics cut in various shapes like circle, triangles, squares and lines. Each has been meticulously placed to resemble a pattern inspired by the paintings. It was stuck with Fabric glue, then stitched with straight lines to hold them together. Rangeen Rekha-ganith is representing colours and diversity of India. Indian bells and lace have been used to enhance its look as a wall hanging which jingles with breeze. An indian sound is created which reminds us of Indian Dance forms and Cows with bells.

Blooming Nine Patch
Prajakta Rawat

Country: India

Dimensions: 94 x 77
Artist Statement/ Description/ Method: This Blooming Nine Patch quilt is my first experience in quilting and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Being first, I was really skeptical if I was too ambitious/adventurous considering its size. But I could complete it and quilt it on my humble domestic machine. This quilt will always be special for me!
mini star

Uma S

Country: India

Dimensions: 44 x 40
Artist Statement/ Description/ Method: i made a star quilt 6 months back measuring 60 in x 50 in using Kaufman black and white for my daughter as throw. I was quite impressed with it. when IQF announced the miniature category, I decided to do the same quilt with same color combination. After starting, I realized that Kaufman is little thick for miniature. I went ahead and finished. being a small quilt, I did the assembly myself in my domestic sewing machine. i did stippling with white thread on the white portion. any color looks dominant on pure black or pure white. So, I used invisible thread for the star area to retain the fabric color.
Floral trees
Floral trees
Uma S

Country: India

Dimensions: 170 x 220
Artist Statement/ Description/ Method: I have used the concept of floral trees with hand printed fabrics of bright colors. Also, I made four trees with 60% reduction in size from one to next. This enabled me to give a depth for the whole design. Selection of background took a long time to decide. A plain background would not do justice. A friend of mine seeing the four independent trees suggested a dawn sky as the backdrop. I decided for a cloudy dawn. First i worked on a combination of blue and pink cloud of morning. Since it did not blend well, I changed to cloudy grey and dawn pink. i tried gradual transition from grey to pink with few blocks in between which was a mosaic of small pieces of pink and grey. It was something like digitizing the picture.
UNITED BY COLOUR
UNITED BY COLOUR
Sangeetha Sajish

Country: India

Dimensions: 77 x 101
Artist Statement/ Description/ Method: DISCRIMINATION ON THE BASIS OF SKIN COLOUR IS ON THE RISE. MY QUILT TRIES TO DEPICT THAT ALL COLOURS WHETHER BLACK OR WHITE, RED OR BLUE ARE BEAUTIFUL AND CAN BLEND VERY EASILY WITH EACH OTHER WHILE BEING UNIQUE IN ITS OWN WAY. NO COLOUR IS SUPERIOR AS EVERY BODY HAS THEIR OWN JOURNEY AND REASON FOR EXISTENCE JUST THE WAY EACH COLUR HAS BEEN CREATED. WHILE WE ALL MAY BE DIFFERENT FROM EACH OTHER, THERE IS ONE COLOUR THAT BINDS (BINDING IN MY QUILT) US ALL – RED, THE COLOUR OF BLOOD.
Twisted Flora
Twisted Flora
Sangeetha Sajish

Country: India

Dimensions: 32 x 32
Artist Statement/ Description/ Method: The Log Cabin Block has always been a favourite of mine. But The Twisted Log cabin Block worked to test my skill with Foundation piecing. Piecing small strips of fabric to get the desired result was a challenge. The colour gradation and pattern translated to a sight of Bougainvillea flowers which are a common sight but are a neglected lot and taken for granted. The red center and yellow binding has been given to highlight the beauty of the green and purple colours.
Mom's Kolam
Mom's Kolam
Mary Priyadarshini Samuel

Country: India

Dimensions: 44 x 44
Artist Statement/ Description/ Method: Paper pieced, Free Motion Machine Quilting, Flange Binding. This quilt design is special to me because the central theme is a kolam that my mother and I used to decorate the entrance of our home with every Christmas. We liked the geometric design and the symmetry. It is considered auspicious and welcoming to have a kolam at the entrance. It is also a good mental and physical exercise to draw a kolam. Improves posture, flexibility, and concentration. It is very meditative and peaceful. Piecing this quilt was fulfilling in a very special way.

Usha Saravanan

Country: India

Dimensions: 228.6 x 185.42
Artist Statement/ Description/ Method: This began as a workshop quilt - Mountain Majesty. The minute I read the pattern, I knew the variation I was going to use. This quilt was in memory of my visit to China around the time of Chinese New Year. The lanterns hung during the new year are a visual delight. The festive prints of a layer cake gifted to me by a dear friend seemed the perfect foil for this quilt.
Pastures and Fields Abound
Pastures and Fields Abound
Usha Saravanan

Country: India

Dimensions: 212 x 150
Artist Statement/ Description/ Method: This quilt is pure nostalgia and it takes me back to my life in the United Kingdom, when my son was a little boy. Weekends were visits to the countryside - open spaces and fresh air and company - we went with other families and their kids. The boys used to love playing in the open fields and would often gaze at the sheep and cattle grazing in the pastures. The subtle colours of my hexagons interspersed with black and white reminded me of the fenced fields and pastures.
